COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

XV Latvian Song and Dance Festival in the United States (2018 – 2022)

I chaired the Organizing Committee of an international Latvian cultural festival in Minnesota in 2022. My duties included:

  • Fundraising, development, and sponsorships.
  • Working with venues and hotels.
  • Interfacing with government officials, media, choirs, dance groups, musicians, and artists from across the world.

Board of Directors, Latvian Organizations Association of Minnesota (2014 – present)

  • I coordinate the cultural activities of Latvian Americans living in Minnesota.
  • Church Council, Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Minneapolis and St. Paul (2016 – present; President of the Congregation starting in 2023)
  • I serve on the Church Council of the Latvian church in Minnesota.

Mendota Heights Community Foundation Board of Directors (2022 – present)

  • I raise money and plan community enrichment projects for the non-profit foundation in my city.

Dakota County Conciliation Court Referee (2011 – 2021)

  • I presided over Small Claims Court, facilitated settlements if possible, and decided cases where the dispute is under $15,000.

Hennepin County Conciliation Court Mediator (2010 – 2012)

  • I served as mediator of Small Claims Court cases that were appealed to District Court.

City of Mendota Heights Planning Commission (2007 – 2016)

  • I heard and decided land use applications in the community where I live.

Fourth Judicial District Ethics Committee (2001 – 2007)

  • I investigated ethics complaints against attorneys and made recommendations concerning discipline.
