The Latvian American Chamber of Commerce (“LACC”) together with the Honorary Consulate of Utah supported the U23 Latvian Biathlon Team at the World Junior Championships in Utah this past February of 2022. The Utah Honorary Consul, Jeffrey Scott, was able to provide the following update.
“On behalf of the Honorary Consulate of Utah, I wanted to report a successful trip/ conclusion to the Latvian World Junior Biathlon Championship Team trip to Utah! The group of 11 athletes and coaches spent over 2 weeks training and participating in the Junior World Competition at Soldier Hollow (2002 Olympic venue). According to Coach Maris, they accomplished most of their goals, short of a top 3 podium, and all Team Members performed admirably across all events with an array of consistent top 10 and 20 results on the IBU world stage. Congrats to ALL for a wonderful competition. And more importantly, they ALL represented Latvia proudly versus the top ski nations in the Federation. The future of Latvian Biathlon bodes well in the years to come.
In addition, I’m hoping their experiences here in the USA and the State of Utah were also memorable, especially as we experience the geopolitical conflict playing out right now in Europe, and that they felt the underlying commitment the World community and America has for the security and well-being of Latvia and the Baltic region at this time. A tremendous Thank You to LACC for organizing and helping to raise funds to cover the expenses for the two vehicles used to transport the Team over their two weeks in Utah- Paldies!!!”

On June 19th, 2021 after long year finally Latvian American Chamber of Commerce Colorado Chapter members and friends could finally meet in person. Event took a place in Lakewood, Colorado.
Aivars Ziedins – to be elected Honorary Consul of Latvia in Colorado had a spectacular presentation. He as an entrepreneur, successful business and financial consultant reflected on his 40 plus years as an advisor to small businesses and individuals. Mr. Ziedins was discussing ups and downs of being in business and gave some advice on some basic concepts in business that he learned the hard way. Persistence is the key to success.
We as Latvians have one very good trade which is stubbornness. During Aivars Ziedins presentation guests were curious about becoming LACC members and to be involved in Latvian American community. This event included Latvia’s most celebrated event Summer Solstice.
All of 46 guests brought home cooked dishes. During this special celebration guests were making flower reefs, jumping across bonfire and enjoying Colorado summer night. It was even raining for a moment like it should be in real Jani day!
