John has spent his career designing and developing medical products. These products have been mainly implantable devices and most recently surgical products for the eye.
John is originally from Massachusetts and earned BS and MS degrees in chemical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. In his career he has developed orthopedic, cardiovascular, gastro-intestinal and ophthalmic implants, and a minimally invasive electrosurgical tools for breast cancer. John is named on 37 US patents. He has worked for large companies and start-ups, serving as Sr. Dir. of Global Project Management and several VP of R&D roles. John is currently self employed and consults for medical device companies, managing pre-clinical studies and monitoring product performance in the clinic.
John has been fortunate in his career to be tightly aligned with the clinical research of these new products, conducting surgical training and monitoring product performance. These opportunities have allowed travel across the globe, including stops in Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia. This travel includes a first in human study for a novel intraocular lens (IOL) in Latvia.
John has been fortunate to have his wife of 42 yrs Sherry join in the adventures. Sherry worked as an RN in Labor & Delivery and Neonatal Intensive care (NICU). John & Sherry live in San Ramon CA. They have 2 children, Dan and Emily, 4 grandchildren, and currently only one Brittany spaniel.
John is a volunteer with the Contra Costa Sherriff’s Search and Rescue Team and Sherry is the CA volunteer coordinator for American Brittany Rescue.
