Last week, LACC board member and ALA president Martin Andersons joined Deputy Speaker of Latvia’s parliament, Dr. Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica, on her official visit to Northern California.
Over two days, they and Foreign Affairs advisor Kaspars Svilāns met with California leaders — State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Assembly Majority Leader Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, Senator Roger Niello — as well as Stanford Vice Provost Michael Keller to strengthen California–Latvia economic, academic, and research cooperation.
These meetings build on the momentum of LACC’s 2022 Spotlight Latvia conference in Los Angeles, Treasurer Ma’s 2024 visit to Latvia, and Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs’ business delegation to the Bay Area later that year.
To mark this progress, Andersons presented Treasurer Ma with Treasures of Latvia, published by the Latvian Exporters Association (The Red Jackets) and sponsored by ALA, showcasing Latvia’s top exporters — several of whom joined LACC’s recent Spotlight Latvia conference in Washington.
