LACC has signed joint statement with several other prominent organizations

Alongside 8 other organizations with strong business and economic ties to Latvia, LACC jointly signed an open letter to the Prime Minister, Finance Minister and other leading governmental officials that seeks to address a current punitive double taxation issue for US tax residents receiving dividends from Latvian companies. We seek to have the Latvian government fix a disincentive for Americans to invest capital in Latvia and Latvian companies and thereby encourage additional American-Latvian economic and business growth.

We are happy to announce that the Latvian American Chamber of Commerce (LACC) and the Latvian Exporters Association (“The Red Jackets”) have agreed to a reciprocal membership to further the business interests of their members and partners.

Jānis Bergs, Co-President of LACC: “We are thrilled to deepen our relationship with The Red Jackets. By working together, both organizations will provide more value to their members and help to promote its members’ business interests.”

Mārtiņš Tiknuss, Chairman of the Board of the Red Jackets: “We will be working to organize a series of engaging and productive events to facilitate networking among and between the members of the Red Jackets and LACC. The US is an important and growing exports market for Latvia and our members, and by opening our networks to each other we will be able to provide real value to Latvian exporters and to the American consumer.”

Latvia – the best location to invest in smart renewable energy

Whichever way you look at it, Latvia is the land of smart renewable energy opportunities.

Latvia is Europe’s 3rd largest manufacturer of renewable energy (Eurostat, 2019), thanks to harnessing its strong rivers in the form of clean, hydroelectric power. It’s the 2nd-greenest country in the EU based on CO2 emissions and has over 2000 specialist employees working in the field. On top of that, it’s been calculated that the Baltic Sea on Latvia’s coast has the potential to generate up to 1100 megawatts in renewable wind energy, which is currently unused. 41% of Latvia’s energy consumption comes from renewable energy, thanks to strong hydroelectric power, which is Europe’s 2nd highest rate.
