Sigrīda is a registered Professional Engineer in civil engineering licensed in the States of California and North Dakota with over 30 years of experience in construction/project management and environmental engineering. Through her project work, she has served clients engaged in the affordable housing, market-rate housing, data center, warehouse, landfill closure and redevelopment, life sciences, technology, energy, and other sectors.

Sigrīda was born in Berkeley, California of Latvian emigres and, due to her father’s occupation, grew up in Europe and the Middle East, becoming fluent in five languages by the age of 13. She attended the Lettisches Gimansium in Munster, Germany (Minsteres Latviešu Ģimnāzija) and obtained a certificate in Latvian Studies from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She obtained her Bachelor of Science, Master of Engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.

Sigrīda lives with her wife Tracy Evans in Oakland, California. They have both long been engaged in endurance sports charity fundraising activities, most recently benefitting the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. Their favorite type of vacation is bicycle touring, which has taken them to Canada, France, Germany, and many scenic corners of the United States.
